I need to preface this post with this information… This post never uploaded so I am uploading it now but this happened around April ish of 2018.
This term started out like any other term. I am super stressed about everything because I try and be a perfectionist. Then it happened. “Pop” something in my foot or ankle just snapped. I was in utter shock. I think the urge of fight or flight response went over me and I initially felt no pain. However, I went on with the rest of my day the next day it was a little tender no big deal though probably just an internal bruise.
OMG was I totally wrong! I went to my school’s health center and got a surgical shoe and the nurse said she thought it was broken. Then a week and a half later I got to go to the doctor they gave me an ankle brace because they thought I tore a tendon. Needless to say that day I got some X-rays. In the end, they said I broke my foot and ankle.
Over the next few days, I got crutches and a walking boot. This may sound bizarre but ever since I was a little kid I wanted crutches. But omg I was ridiculous! Crutches are terrible! My school’s campus is on a hill so every time I had to come up the hill I died a little. I was so out of breath once I got up the hill. I tried to call campus safety to get me in one of the golf carts but they were always busy when I asked. By the end of day three, I had so many bruises on my arms and sides from the crutches.
I couldn’t wait until my two weeks with crutches were over! After that I had four weeks with a boot but compared with crutches it was so nice!! But after a while, I got annoyed with the boot too! However, I was thankful it was a boot and not a cast bc I live on campus at school and it would be difficult to shower with a cast because they only have showers.
