A friend told me how my life has been so crazy and how I have not had time to blog. So upon their request here is vampire class. This class started four weeks ago and I was all for it. I was so excited! However, now I am four weeks into class and still liking it and all but boy has it changed.I guess I should preface with what I’m talking about exactly. Vampire class is phlebotomy. However, it is vampire class for two specific reasons. One, we take blood and two, I am always bruised (but wait vampires aren’t the bruised ones)
Now I have two fun stories, imparticular, to say about “vampire class.” The first one starts on the first day of class. Since everyone was new no one knew the mechanics and proper way to stick exactly. Therefore I got poked and was fine I left class and went back home went to bed (it’s a night class so I don’t do much but eat dinner and go to bed). However, the next morning I woke up to find my whole arm was bruised. Not only the puncture site but my entire arm. I either looked like I had some funky tattoo taste and had a whole sleeve tattooed as a blackish, blueish, purple blur; or I was in a pretty interesting fight where only one arm was effected but very badly.
Another interesting story about vampire class was the day we did capillary punctures. This was more recent. It was last week. We had to do finger pricks but our kits also had heel sticks. Which are actually blades that slice newborns heals when they are first-born to check for different diseases. It’s a blade because doctors need two to three vials of blood. Now we were supposed to use lancets to practice finger pricks and my partner, which I will leave unnamed, used a heel stick on my finger. Not to mention they did that on the middle finger pad part of my finger, the part with the most nerves. So I left class with a slice through the middle of my finger. I couldn’t type or touch anything for almost two weeks. At least I haven’t had any bad experiences since.
Just when I think the vampires are gone I woke up this morning with another bruise on my arm.
