With just a few days until move in day and the house in disarray from fixing the drywall it’s no surprise I am still not ready. The house is still in the process of getting updated so the ongoing projects take first priority over packing. However, since I had to pack for college anyway packing everything up so the drywall guy can come isn’t half bad. However, so you don’t make the same mistakes as I did here are a few tips I would have found helpful when I was packing for college.
Packing Tips
1. Everyone said make a list so you don’t forget anything. However, a better tip would have been buy clear bins or label my opaque bins with the items inside each. I myself would have to use masking tape and label that because my bins are black. However, if you had bins of a different color just a sharpie would do.
In addition this may be because I have had too much help and people gave me to many list. However, each list I received has specific items I think will be good to take with me.
2. So my next tip is to look at as many lists as you want and decide which items you deem as necessary. From this write down the items you like. If you are luckily enough to find a list with everything you want that is great! The most important part is to make sure everything is on one list. Therefore, nothing is repeated and you don’t need to keep track of multiple lists.
3. Bring a duffel bag. I was going to bring a suitcase; however, my friend reminded me that I will not have much space for my suitcase. Additionally a duffel bag can be compacted when not in use and can hold a lot of stuff when you need it to.
